We’ve introduced a school nurse messaging service where children and young people can text their school nurse with their health queries. Our aim is to continue providing the most timely and convenient access to confidential health advice for student. HCRG is working with a company called ChatHealth to roll out this service.
ChatHealth is a text service enabling young people at secondary school to reach out to our school nurse team to ask for help about a range of issues, or make an appointment with one of our school nurse confidentially. The service is for anyone aged 11-19 at secondary school looking for confidential advice on a wide range of issues such as bullying, emotional health and wellbeing, sexual health as well as illnesses.
How does it work?
You can contact us at any time, and we’ll get back to you between 9am and 4pm on 07480 635 513.
What can young people text about?
School nurses are there to support young people with a range of difficulties. These could include:
- Exam stress
- Mental health
ChatHealth works because it is:
- Quick and easy
Young people using the service tell is it is a less embarrassing to ask for health advice on personal issues by text than in person or over the phone.
Don’t worry, you will still be able to see your school nurse face-to-face in clinic and now you’ll also have the option to contact a nurse by text message.
